Day 4

Friday october 14, 2016.

Day 4 of our trip to Krakow. Breakfast at 09.00 am. Dad has had a reasonably quiet night. We start calling with the insurance company, emergency center and Ryanair. Our flight back seems to get increasingly difficult. Ryanair may refuse Dad on the flight according to the travel conditions. What then? The emergency center and the insurance company are pushing the ball like a hot potato back and forth. Hospital report is mailed to the insurance company, Tomasz has a copy and translates it into English, will this be helpfull in the contact with Ryanair?

Checked out at 12.00. From bedroom to the van, again by dining chair. Insurance company and emergency center are surprised because we were on our way tot he airport. We have to. We have a flight for 8 persons. If nothing succeeds then we will drive with a rental car to Holland. Our last option. About 15 minutes later we arrive at the airport. Arranging wheelchair, visiting Ryanair desk. An employee promises assistance, our contact at the emergency center expects the opposite. The escort of Ryanair tells us that he will meet us again at the upper restaurant. We wait, eat soup.

14.15 pm. With escort to the check in. No problems. The customs, a thorough check for some of us, then to the plane.

Tribute to Ryanair.

No arguments, only benevolent cooperation. Ground staff helps where they can. Reserved place is rebooked. Dad sits now on the back row. There are two places free beside him. Hans and Hein sitting next to him.

Eindhoven here we come!!

17.05 pm we land at Eindhoven airport. We say goodbye to some travel companions. It was a special trip in many ways. Via Neer for a short greeting, Dad’s dog Tara stays there, to the emergency room in Roermond.

Wheelchair and waiting begins. The third round. Repeat.

After nearly 4 hours waiting we are called. A difficult conversation folows. There is nothing broken. The doctor says, Dad won’t get hospitalized. New pictures, no fractures, worn out hip left and right. Going home is not an option: Pat.

I am looking for an solution. Ask Gaby and Marianne again to contact some healthcare institutions. Bite. Healthcare institution contacts hospital. Dad is for at least 1 night hospitalized. Then we see further. 1 day will be 6. 'Rollator-lessons-' take the stairs 'training'. Thursday 20 October: Dad may go home.
